Another popular route to Karen Blixen Camp is to connect via the Serengeti and cross the Tanzania/Kenya border west of the Mara. Both Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam airports are well connected, and from there a network of flights connect to the Serengeti safari lodges and camps. From the Serengeti, it’s a short flight to Tarime, a quick road transfer across the border to the Migori airstrip in Kenya, and another short flight into the Mara. All in all, if you left a Serengeti camp in the morning, you could be in the Mara in time for lunch. Once again, we would be delighted to book these flights for you.

Coming from Nairobi after the escarpment turn left in Mai Mahiu and follow the B3 for 115.5km. Turn left onto the c13, follow c13 for about 83.5km. Just outside Narok follow the main road and do not turn left to the Sekanani region of Masai Mara, the road heads towards Ololunga to Mulot. past the Ololulunga Shopping Centre turn off but before Mulot (at the 32Km from Narok) there is a turning on the left known as Olonini Primary School junction. Take this turn-off and wave goodbye to the tarmac.
Stay on this long and fairly bumpy road which winds through the wheat fields and eventually hills. There is only one turning on the left in a small settlement called Ngorongore. After Ngorengore.
After Ngorengore there is a Y junction, turn left and head straight, pass through a small shopping Centre of Lemek (62km from Narok town) and as you emerge from the hills you will see a large radio mast on top of Aitong hill. Stay on the road and do not take the turning on the right to Fairmont Safari Club. Look out for the Karen Blixen Camp sign post.
Continue straight while on the main road without turning. Drive straight on the main road just before Mara Rianda Trading Centre about 21km from Aitong hill, you will see a sign post on your right showing you the final 5Kms stretch to Karen Blixen Camp. This is a well-defined graded road.
For further clarification, please call the Camp on 0713-028 578 or 0788- 715 451 and they will gladly guide you. The signal is of poor quality at the Camp, so keep trying and you will get through.
